We finally got an Ark Survival Ascended server running. It was not looking good at the start because there were no Linux binaries to put up a server. Wildcard released the binaries however they are Windows only. This has broken our automations so I’ll need to completely rebuild the supporting infrastructure around our clusters.
Additionally, the Windows binary is a lot less stable than the old Linux binaries. Running the server - and later, the cluster - is proving to be a challenge. Configurations are not being adhered to, ports are being finnicky, and over-all weirdness is ensuing. The cluster will just randomly crash on a whim.
We will run the ASA The Island server by hand while we just have one map. Rules will be a little more restricted as well, because the player experience is going to be a little cozy while there’s only one map. I’d host more than one map however I have had a lot of issues with that in the past, so I’m choosing not to go down that time sink again.
I’ve update the website overall, but also to include a page for our ASA servers: Our Servers.
