Firstly, this post isn’t about anyone in particular. I think I know two people who will probably think that this is targetted however I have seen a handful of mesh bases and at least one of them I think is pretty awesome.

I want to provide some further clarification on the ark rules, specifically ‘mesh’ bases. I dont mind people using Wildcards poor map design to gain access to the ‘mesh’ and build a decent sized base in there. I do mind people using these glitches to gain an extremely unfair advantage to the player base. I have said this a couple of times however I just want to make it absolutely clear what I mean by this.

The first thing that I do when I find someones mesh base is I jump into a private session and check to see if I can un-cryo a dino into the space. I should at least be able to gain a reasonable footing into the base in order to uncryo a dino and soak your turrets. The primary thing that I want to see is that someone, who bypasses your spam, can get to your turrets and soak them out. I don’t care if it takes 50 trikes and a desert titan to soak; I just want to see that it can, at least, be soaked. I also don’t want to see bullets firing through walls; this is a huge no-no.

Another thing that I check is if it requires some kind of advanced glitching knowledge to access. Your base cannot require the use of mechanics such as ladders or beds as a sole point of entry. Players should be able to gain entry into the mesh spot by walking, crouching, flying or use of cryopods. If the mesh spot is in such a way that a player would be instantly killed the moment that they also glitched into your base, then this is not allowed.

If you require the use of ladders/stairs to access your mesh spot, then the destruction of this should not lock people out from accessing your base. If the structure used to access the spot is destroyed, a raider should be able to build their own in it’s place.

Primarily, I don’t mind mesh bases being used, provided that they’re like a hidden cave and that they’re protected like one.

A prime example of an unallowed mesh base is an old mesh spot in Genesis 2 (since patched) which allowed access into the mesh in one of the space entries. This required perfect positioning of a foundation and ladder in order to glitch through the wall and enter into a mesh spot; this is not something that I would allow because it would be impossible for someone to raid this base. Your turrets would cut that person down the moment that they glitch through the wall and would probably also shoot them through the wall.

An example of an okay mesh base would probably be this one at this time stamp; it has an entry that is very similar to a crouch cave and it’s only advantage is that it’s a large base location with a crouch cave entry. Entry would be difficult for a raider but the right tactic and enough time would get them in.

If your base does not comply with this refinement of the rules then you should seriously consider moving. If you appear on my radar then your base will be checked and if it doesn’t comply then it will be wiped. If you have not made yourself known to me then I will not give you any warning because I dont have the time to be constantly checking for you to come online. If you are known to me then I’ll drop you a message and let you know.

Needless to say that if players don’t respect my leniancy with mesh bases then I’ll just flat-out ban them and insta-wipe anything found in the mesh. So follow rule #1.
